UK Flood Emergency Appeal

Due to winds gusting over 100mph, the affected areas of Cumbria and Lancashire has been issued with a ‘danger to life’ red alert warning. Houses have been flooded to over 3 metres and electricity power to thousands of homes has been cut off and transport has been disrupted by the hurricane-force winds.

Al-Imdaad Foundation is working closely with the local emergency authorities including the British Red Cross and DEFRA to respond quickly and provide support to the affected families. After initial assessment it has been sought that the immediate response is for funding to provide temporary accommodation for the flood victims. Also warm hats and blankets would be greatly appreciated.

It is important that we support our neighbors in the country we live so please donate as much as you can.

Swindon Masjid is collaborating with Al-Imdaad foundation and a collection will take place in Town center (based on permission) and in the mosque.  For more details, please see the poster

I’m one of the producers of BBC Wiltshire’s morning radio show. I wanted to find out more about the support you’re giving to flood victims in Cumbria… in what ways are you helping them – has anyone from the foundation witnessed the floods, have you raised any money yet, what more might you do to help?

I wondered if anyone might be available to come on the radio this week to do an update? The interview would take around 5-10 minutes and would be sometime between 9 and 12. I can give more detail but wanted to put in the initial request for an interview now.

If you’d like more information, please call me on the newsroom number: 01793 513 652.

    Many thanks,
    Rhiannon Fitz-Gerald
